“I hope that before you all write your news, you will consult me first, and make sure such things really happened. Is there anything wrong with that?”
In a Malaysiakini report on 9 Dec, the Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar took umbrage at the media for highlighting allegations about the actions of rescue personnel in the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide on 6 Dec. The family of Ng Yee Ping — one of four killed in the landslide — had claimed that rescue personnel did not respond fast enough in the incident. Khalid, who is leading the rescue operations, vehemently denied the accusations and hit out at the media for publishing such accounts without verifying the matter with him.
“The PWD and Ikram found that the condo, located on a hillside and near the landslide area, may collapse at any time.”
The Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar again, as quoted by Bernama on 7 Dec at 5.45pm, ordering the evacuation of the Kyoto Garden Condominium residents in Bukit Antarabangsa. The residents were ordered to leave immediately as studies by the Public Works Institute of Malaysia (Ikram) and the Public Works Department (PWD) found the area to be at risk of a landslide.
“The information I was given was wrong. Kyoto Garden is far away from the landslide scene.”
Bernama report on the same day, at 9.35pm. Khalid admitted he had made a mistake in his afternoon news conference when he announced the impending collapse of the Kyoto Garden Condominium. As it turned out, the condominium was located far from the landslide area, and the residents had nothing to fear.

Oh, please forgive him because he’s confused. Lately he’s under great pressure because even citizen cyclists are dangerous to their fellow teen cyclists. He has to protect the teenage cyclists by housing them in Rawang police station surrounded by fully equipped FRU and tear gas to fight off the threats.
Since when can police can take over parents’ custodian role? Where’s the parents’ right to be with their children?
Mr Khalid, if you really care for our children’s safety, please free our school-going children from gangsters threat and clear up gambling and gaming centres in cities and towns.
