Joanne de Rozario: “Why is race important?” (Corrected 11.45am, 2 May 2012)
We had originally reported that Joanne de Rozario co-hosted ntv7’s The Breakfast Show with Aishah Sinclair. There are actually two other hosts for the show, Nazrudin Rahman and Hansen Lee, that we were not informed about at the point of fact and quote checking.
We were also erroneous in saying that she is still the TV station’s head of production for the news and current affairs department. She gave up that position in 2003 and is no longer working full-time with the station. We only received this information after we published the interview, following our fact and quote check with de Rozario.
We apologise to our readers for the factual inaccuracy.

“All-very-rojak” Liyana Fizi (Corrected 11.15am, 12 May 2012)
In the first photo from Liyana Fizi’s family album, we mistakenly captioned it as, “Liyana (bottom right), with her mother (centre, back), her maternal grandmother (front, centre) and other family members in a photo from the Seventies.” A reader has pointed out that if Liyana was born in 1983, it cannot be her in the picture.
The correct caption, after we rechecked with Liyana, should be: “Liyana’s mother (bottom right), with her maternal grandmother (front, centre) and other family members in a photo from the Seventies.”
We apologise for our oversight. Despite going through a fact-checking exercise with Liyana, this mistake was not pointed out to us until Liyana’s fan spotted it. On our part, we should also have been more vigilant.

It’s not the only time you have been guilty of “factual inaccuracies”. It is perhaps the only time in my recollection that you admitted to it. There must be a reason for that, too.
It’s always a credible thing to do when you discover you are wrong.

@ TNG
I think this is brilliant! This Gopal Raj Kumar is helping TNG re-highlight its editorial policies for all to see. I suppose you guys should send him some money to thank him for his service, or shall I say, “indirect service” to TNG.
