KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Sept 2008: Security has been tightened at Parliament’s media centre following a spate of thefts at it recently.
Parliament’s senior security officer Abu Johan said they were also considering plans to install a CCTV system in the media centre.
"The media centre is always kept locked when not in use. We are awaiting the outcome of police investigations into the thefts before making any statement," he said when contacted today.
Bernama journalists covering the 2009 Budget presentation in Parliament on Friday lodged a police report that desktop computers valued at RM7,000 kept permanently at the media centre for their use had been stolen.
Initially they had thought that two of the six computer sets missing had been taken for repairs but when told by technicians it was not been the case, they lodged a police report.
This was third case of theft at the media centre this year. – Bernama
