PARIT BUNTAR, 4 MARCH 2009: Menteri Besar Datuk Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said yesterday’s “emergency session” of the state assembly, held under a tree, was to embarrass the nation in the eyes of the world.
“I don’t want to speculate, but we can see that they had prepared for the session, with some carrying posters that read ‘The World is Watching’,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting today.
“It was as if the session was staged for the world to see,” he said, when asked to comment on the session held under a tree about 100m from the Perak Darul Ridzuan building, which houses the state legislative assembly.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker V Sivakumar called the session after he and 27 PAS, DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat assemblypersons were stopped by police from entering the building.
The session “approved” three motions expressing support for Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as the menteri besar, calling for the dissolution of the state assembly to pave the way for a fresh election, and affirming the speaker’s decision to suspend Zambry and his six state executive councillors from the state legislative assembly.
The session attracted about 300 onlookers and received wide coverage from local and foreign media.
Zambry said the session was also an attempt by the opposition to disrupt the state’s administration.
“But I will continue to discharge my duties as usual … we cannot be bothered by such incident,” he said.
Perak state legislative assembly secretary Abdullah Antong Sabri had previously said the state legislative assembly sitting was illegal as it did not have the consent of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.
Yesterday, the Ipoh High Court issued an order restraining Sivakumar from convening any unlawful sitting of the state assembly.

The police and the FRU prevented the Aduns from entering the building to convene an assembly which caused this chaos. If they were allowed to enter the building, then there will be no perhimpunan “haram” outside.

Look who’s talking!
Please, the world already knew that Malaysia had morphed into a Zimbabwe-like state when the Umno government started to used every dirty trick to twist and misinterpret the constitution and laws in order to grab hold of power in Perak.
You can hide your dirty linen from the rakyat who live in Malaysian kampungs but you cannot hide the truth from the world! There are many international news services based in KL and they are not under the control of Umno unlike the local MSM who only report biased stories.
Yep, BN and the institutions controlled by them like the police and judiciary can go on and behave like samsengs so that your actions could be seen all over the world and be scorned and laughed at! You deserve it because you started this fire.
