KUALA TERENGGANU, 17 March 2009: A former director of the Wakaf Tapai National Youth Vocational Institute (IKBN) near Marang pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to cheating the Youth and Sports Ministry using a fake document.
Kamarozaman Hassan, 51, from Wakaf Bharu in Pasir Mas who now works at the ministry in Putrajaya was alleged to have committed the offence in December 2005 using a fake government invoice regarding toilet repair work at the institute.
If convicted under Section 11(c) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, he can be jailed up to 20 years and fined not less than five times the sum or RM10,000 whichever in higher.
Judge Mohd Azhar Othman allowed Kamarozaman bail of RM6,000 with one surety and fixed 22 April for trial.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Sophian Zakaria from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission conducted the prosecution while Kamarozaman was unrepresented. — Bernama
