SANDAKAN, 14 Sept 08: The strategy used by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take over the government so that he can become prime minister has been lambasted as "utterly undemocratic, unethical and ungentlemanly".
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman who made the description, said it was clear that Anwar’s tactics to get Barisan Nasional (BN) members of parliament (MPs) to switch camp was to fulfil his dream of becoming prime minister.
He said Anwar had also openly stated that he would make every effort to get the support of BN MPs in order to achieve his ambition.
"It has been proven that Anwar has big dreams and is in a hurry to form a new government that he just cannot wait for the next general election to do so via the democratic process.
"If he is convinced that he has the support of the people, he should wait for the due process," Musa said in a statement here today.
Musa, who is also Sabah BN chairman, said that BN elected representatives were mature and wise enough not to be trapped by Anwar’s politics.
He said the Sabah BN MPs might be vocal on certain issues but this did not mean that they were against the BN top leadership.
"I believe they will remain grateful and thankful to the BN supporters for enabling them to become MPs," he added.
Anwar, who is also opposition leader, had repeatedly said he would bring down the government on 16 Sept by getting BN MPs to cross over. – Bernama
