PUTRAJAYA, 13 April 2009: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Maj Gen (Rtd) Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom said a meeting with the Malay rulers will be sought next month to obtain their consent on the coordination and standardisation of Islamic laws.
In addition, he said, a meeting would also be held with the heads of the Religious Department in all states.
“The meeting with the Malay rulers will also discuss the laws which have been adopted and consented to by the Conference of Rulers previously,” he told reporters here today.
Earlier, Jamil Khir chaired the Islamic Consultative Council Meeting for the first time since he was appointed to hold the portfolio on 9 April.
At the meeting, five working papers were tabled including on Islamic law, Islamic economy and education. — Bernama
