FORMER Penanti state assemblyperson Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin, in a press statement announcing his resignation from the Penang state assembly. Fairus had previously resigned from the post of Penang deputy chief minister 1. These resignations came in the wake of allegations of corruption, and reports that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had begun the process of prosecution.
“They are just exco members; I’m not just an exco, but a deputy chief minister as well, and yet they (PKR) didn’t help me out, because I was framed by my own party members! …

Fairus on 15 April 2009, in an exclusive interview with Nanyang Siang Pau, a day before his official statement of resignation. He was unhappy that PKR defended Selangor executive councillor and assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong and former Kedah executive councillor and assemblyperson V Arumugam, but not him. He threatened to reveal damaging secrets about PKR and the Penang state government if the party did not clear his name within two weeks. You gloss over the fact that Nanyang has a secret agenda to drive a wedge between the component parties in the Pakatan.
This is the favour in return for the fact that MCA has a larger representation in the new cabinet line-up.
The media is going for the kill. The political masters want this to happen.
Remember, the Opposition Leader said something to the effect about media members trying to get PR-elected reps to cross over?
On your part, no need to aggravate things further.
Use the official statement issued by the PKR. Not interviews by mainstream media that [have an] agenda – like this vernacular press. I don’t blame the journalists – they are being paid to do a job as dictated by their political masters.
