KOTA KINABALU, 29 April 2009: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has urged the state Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to call for a special meeting to resolve the numerous problems, including politics, facing the state.
Its chief publicity officer, Albert Kok, said it was regrettable that the state BN leadership had not called for any such meeting in the past four years.
“The LDP feels that it is time to call for the meeting with a view to resolving the current political, economic and social problems before us,” he said in a statement today.
Kok said Sabah Chief Minister and BN chairperson Datuk Seri Musa Aman had indicated his willingness to meet with the respective component party presidents on a one-to-one basis.
“I think this is not in line with the BN spirit. All component parties should sit down and discuss matters at the roundtable in the true spirit of consensus and cooperation, and at the same time, put the notion of ‘1Malaysia, People First, Performance Now’ propounded by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, into practice.”
On Sunday, the LDP supreme council unanimously decided to support the call for partyless Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan to resign from the state cabinet in view of his political situation, in the interest of the BN.
LDP president Datuk Liew Vui Keong stressed that the party had no other agenda but to ensure the BN’s victory in the next general election. — Bernama
