PENANG, 11 June 2009: The cooperation between the DAP, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS is merely to woo the people to support the Islamic party’s cause, said Penang Gerakan Chairperson Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan.
Teng said PAS had not changed its ideology and objectives even after its cooperation with the DAP and PKR.
“PAS never changed the party’s objective, which is to set up an Islamic country, and therefore they are striving to accomplish their goal even if they have to seek help from the non-Malay voters,” he said in statement here today.
He said during the last general election in 2008, PAS, through the Pakatan Rakyat, used the term “welfare state” instead of “Islamic state” to deceive the people.
He reminded the people that at the recent PAS general assembly, PAS youth had strongly lashed out against the government’s new policy to abolish the 30% bumiputera equity rule for 27 service sub-sectors, which was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Teng also said that during the assembly, PAS had passed a resolution asking the National Fatwa Council to ban Sisters in Islam (SIS) and conduct a study over its approach to reclaim the rights of Muslim women, which PAS claimed was confusing Islamic society. — Bernama
tebing tinggi says
Mr Penang Gerakan chairperson, PAS might not have changed its ideology and objectives.
What was your objective when you made a call to the government to allow Chin Peng to Malaysia knowing very well it could cause unpleasant situation in Malaysia?
what says
What is this Teng guy talking about? what is PAS in the first place? PAS = Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party or the Islamic Party of Malaysia (Malay: Parti Islam Se-Malaysia). So what else could PAS be doing? What changed ideology? This is cheap publicity.
chinaman says
Teng and Gerakan have been shunned by the people of Penang. Why are you so worried about PAS? Are you trying to be in the news so that the rakyat still remembers you? The people who voted PAS are not worried. We practice freedom of speech.
Talk also cannot meh.
