AFTER a long and tense day of debating the party president’s keynote address in the PAS muktamar, delegates and supporters gathered at Stadium Negeri Perak for the Ceramah Perdana on the night of 16 Aug 2008. By 9.30pm, more than 3,000 people had entered the stadium gates. Within an hour, the crowd grew to almost 10,000, with some families equipped with picnic mats and soccer balls for their little ones. PAS boasted some influential international speakers and guests from the Islamic parties of Pakistan, Tajikistan and Turkey. The closing ceramah was given by spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
