ALOR STAR, 3 July 2009: The DAP’s sole representative in Kedah, Lee Guan Aik, today declared himself as an “independent and non-aligned” state assemblyperson and no longer a government supporter.
The Kota Darul Aman assemblyperson, however, said he would also not support the Barisan Nasional (BN).
Lee (Source: leeguanaik.blogspot.com) “I no longer support the government or the opposition, and will only side with the truth,” he told Bernama.
He said the central DAP was informed of the Kedah DAP’s stand by letter two days ago.
“We did not send a letter to the menteri besar (Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak), but we sent one to the central DAP and we are awaiting a reply on the Kedah DAP’s decision to pull out of Pakatan Rakyat,” he said.
Lee said the PAS leadership probably did not realise that the DAP had played a role in garnering Chinese Malaysian votes for the opposition coalition, including votes for PAS in the last general election.
“We regret the treatment given the DAP because I have repeatedly met the menteri besar to ask that the Alor Star Municipal Council postpone the demolition of the pig abattoir pending the state government’s decision on approval for a new site,” he said.
On Wednesday, the state DAP made a surprise accouncement to pull out of the Pakatan Rakyat because it was unhappy with the way the state government handled several issues, including the demolition of the the pig abattoir in Kampung Berjaya.
In PENANG, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the party’s central working committee would meet next week to discuss the pullout.
The meeting would be held after obtaining feedback from DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, who would hold an open dialogue with the local residents tommorow.
“I believe that the letter [from the Kedah DAP] has been sent to the (DAP) headquarters. I haven’t read it yet. Of course we will have a meeting,” he told reporters after opening a photography exhibition in conjunction with the declaration of Georgetown as a World Heritage Site. — Bernama

What happened to the DAP in Kedah? I thought they upheld the law. The court has given an order. Nobody can stop it. This is the true separation of power. Not even the Menteri Besar can stop the order. Please be more understanding, dear fellow DAP friends in Kedah. Listen to the majority of people before you take action. Malay [Malaysians] also vote for DAP you know …

This DAP Assemblyman Mr Lee Guan Aik who declared himself an “independent” is actually not fit to be a politician as his action shows nothing but plain political immaturity. As a common citizen, I wish to remind Mr Lee that who he is today is because he contested on a DAP banner. By washing your hands clean simply shows you are a very irresponsible person … simply put a man of no principles! You have cheated and betrayed all those who have voted for you. Many would agree with me that you would have failed miserably if you had contested as a true independent candidate! And I would still reserve respect for you.

The gleeful looking Lee should resign as an Assemblyman. Not make a fool of those who voted for the DAP.
Malaysians expect Mr Lee to resign as an Adun and not from DAP. Let the electorate then make the decision. He cannot and should not make the decision.
