KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Oct 2008: Puteri Umno has suggested that the party carry out briefing sessions at the grassroots level to explain the leadership transition plan as there are still members who are confused over the matter.
Its chief Datuk Noraini Ahmad said the party’s grassroots members only heard or read about the plan in media.
“We don’t want the confusion to be manipulated by outside elements to speculate and create negative perception about the party,” she said in a statement.
She suggested that the information session be held after the Hari Raya.
Noraini also welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s statement that he would meet leaders of Barisan Nasional component parties to brief them on the transition plan.
She also said that Puteri Umno was willing to get down to the field and explain the matter if needed. — Bernama
