KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Oct 2009: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the Lingam video clip case is still being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In a one-paragraph reply to Wee Choo Keong (PKR-Wangsa Maju), who wanted to know the progress of police’s and the MACC’s investigations into the case, Hishammuddin said police were no longer investigating the matter.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz told the Dewan Rakyat last week that there would be no further action to be taken by the Attorney-General’s chambers on the case as there were no evidence to show that criminal offences had been committed on the issue of abuse of power in the appointment of judges.
The commission was set up in 2007 to investigate alleged intervention into the appointment of judges, following the release of a video clip showing a man on the telephone purportedly brokering the appointment of judges.
The commission later identified the man to be senior lawyer Datuk VK Lingam. — Bernama

Please excuse me, perhaps I’m an educated moron. There was a royal commission, which found enough evidence and also authenticated the video of “Looks like me, sounds like me, but may not be me”; so how come the police and the Attorney-General deem it fit that there is no no evidence to show a criminal offence had taken place?
The trust in both the police and the AG is at its lowest ebb as the public has the impression that the norm of the day is selective persecution.
