KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Nov 2009: The new fuel subsidy management system will be implemented in May next year, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chor Chee Heung told the Dewan Rakyat today.
He said the system’s mechanism would be announced after a study on the subsidy distribution and target groups had been identified.
“I can’t reveal the system in detail as the government is still working on the framework,” he said in reply to a supplementary question by Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak recently announced that the new fuel subsidy management system to benefit target groups would be introduced next year.
To the original question by Khairy, who wanted to know the fuel subsidy borne by the government until September, Chor said it amounted to RM3.54 billion.
“The fuel subsidy for 2010 will reach RM10 billion if the present system is retained,” he added. — Bernama
Target says
We know who are the targeted group. We are singled out for the RGPT, the service tax on credit cards, the antique cars (which unfortunately affected the non-targeted group or fortunately for us, targeted group) – it had to be hastily withdrawn.
We have been written off as supporters of the opposition, as a group. So we are the targeted group. ABUSE!
