KUALA LUMPUR, 12 Oct 2008: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today declined to comment on a possible new date for the Pakatan Rakyat to take over the federal government from the Barisan Nasional.
When pressed by reporters, he said: “I will not mention it (the date). At the appropriate time … we will see a change.”
“If the people want a change … no power can prevent and stop it,” he said at his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru.
In Kota Baru last Friday, Anwar, who is the MP for Permatang Pauh and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor, said the Pakatan Rakyat would set up the new federal government before Hari Raya Aidiladha on 8 Dec.
The Pakatan Rakyat failed to set up the federal government on 16 Sept, as promised earlier.
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang and former Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim were among those who attended Anwar’s open house. — Bernama
