AFTER a series of cancellations and rebuffs by the university administration, documentary filmmaker Fahmi Reza is challenging Universiti Malaya students to organise his Student Power lecture on campus on Tuesday, 24 Aug 2010.
The Fairly Current Show host Fahmi Fadzil speaks with his namesake about his ongoing research into the Malaysian student movement of the 1960s, and why public universities are so resistant towards hosting his lecture.
Fahmi Reza also comments on the recent TV3 debate between Higher Education Deputy Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and former UiTM vice-chancellor Ibrahim Abu Shah on student participation in politics.
Fahmi Reza is a documentary filmmaker and researcher. He made 10 Tahun Sebelum Merdeka in 2007, and Revolusi ’48, which is still in post-production.
