IPOH, 16 Oct 2008: Perak Umno Youth today lodged a report with the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) to probe the alleged interference of the Perak Menteri Besar’s political secretary in the affairs of the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID).
Perak Umno Youth chief and Sungai Manik state assemblyman, Zainol Padzi Paharuddin, alleged that the political secretary, Misbahul Munir Masduki, had issued a letter telling the DID director to assign drainage and irrigation maintenance work to the state government-appointed Village Safety and Development Committee through direct negotiation.
Speaking to reporters after making the report with the ACA here, he alleged that in the past, the work was handled by the Area Farmers Organisation, which would call for tenders in the related areas.
Meanwhile in Teluk Intan, Suib Sulaiman, chairman of the board of directors for the farmers’ organisation in the Sungai Manik and Labu Kubong areas, also lodged a report with the ACA on the same matter. — Bernama
