PUTRAJAYA, 4 Aug 2009: No death from Influenza A(H1N1) was reported in the last 24 hours up to 8am today but 14 new cases were detected, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
Of the 14 cases, 13 were from three clusters while the remaining case was sporadic or isolated, the deputy prime minister said.
One was in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the rest were receiving outpatient treatment.
“The accumulated number of Influenza A(H1N1) in Malaysia as at 8am this morning was 1,460, with eight deaths. Of the 1,460 case, 574 or 39.3% were imported and 886 [were] local transmissions,” he said after chairing the meeting of the National Inter-Ministerial Committee on the A(H1N1) Pandemic here.
He said 1,410 of the patients had recovered and only 27 were still getting antiviral treatment in the hospitals, with 10 cases in intensive care, while 23 were receiving antiviral treatment at home.
He said three of the patients in ICU had high-risk factors with one being obese, one having just given birth and the third having low immunity. — Bernama
