KUALA LUMPUR, 26 May 2009: Blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin was served with another warrant of arrest by the Sessions Court here today when he failed to appear for a defamation trial against Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and two others.
Raja Petra, 59, was accused with criminally defaming Rosmah (at the time when her husband was the deputy prime minister), her aide de camp Lt Col Norhayati Hassan and her husband, Lt Col Abdul Aziz Buyong in a statutory declaration at the Jalan Duta Court Complex at 10.25am on 18 June last year.
Judge Muhammad Sekeri Mamat issued a show cause letter against Raja Petra’s wife, Mable @ Marina Lee Abdullah, who stood as bailor. Marina was also not present in the court.
The judge had set a three-day trial beginning today.
Raja Petra, who is represented by his counsel, Amarjeet Singh faces two years’ jail or fine if convicted.
Muhammad Sekeri fixed 2 July for mention.
This is the second time Raja Petra had been served with a warrant of arrest. Petaling Jaya Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob issued a warrant of arrest against him on 23 April when he failed to turn up for a sedition trial. — Bernama
