Cheras Umno wants Nizar’s “Datuk Seri” title revoked

February 6, 2009

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 Feb 2009: Cheras Umno division head Senator Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee today suggested the revocation of the “Datuk Seri” title conferred by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah on former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as a lesson to those who commit treason.

Syed Ali said in a statement that he was disappointed that a Malay leader such as Mohammad Nizar could show discourtesy to the Sultan of Perak by refusing to relinquish the post of Menteri Besar despite being ordered to do so.

Meanwhile in a separate statement, the Perak branch of the Federation of Peninsular Malay Students felt that all the people of the state should accept the decision of Sultan Azlan Shah with an open mind.

Its chairman, Zainal Abidin Mohd Nor, said what was more important for the people of Perak was to look forward to and strengthen the government in facing the greater economic challenge ahead. — Bernama

    Short memory Datuk Syed?

How about when PM Abdullah accused the Sultan of Terengganu-cum-Agung of acting ultra vires of the constitution when he refused to reappoint Idris Jusoh as MB?

How about when the Raja of Peris-cum-former-Agung refused to reappoint the former MB?

Umno and BN are also masters at double-standards.

How about doing the same to Badawi when he rejected the Terengganu sultan’s choice of MB?
