Cops bar Altantuya talk, set ceramah curfew

By Sharon Tan

March 31, 2009

BUKIT GANTANG, 31 March 2009: Altantuya is off limits, Sultan of Perak’s decision on not dissolving the state assembly must not be questioned and all ceramah must end at 11pm – these are some of the new rulings issued by the police to political parties in Bukit Gantang.

Perak Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR’s) deputy chairman and Teja assemblyman Chang Lih Kang said there are no plans to abide the rules because it was silly and would welcome any interrogation by the police.

Chang, when contacted by The Edge Financial Daily, said campaigners were informed of the new ruling by police today.

“We spoke about all these in every ceramah and will continue to do so. We will not abide by it. If police thinks that the speech contravenes the law, then we welcome them to interrogate and question us,” said Chang.

Great job, PR deserves it for making unsubstantiated accusations. Prove it if it is true. This is mere character assasination. They will be lucky if they are not charged under the Sedition Act. Wake up Malaysians, we are not democratically mature yet, PR politicians are the least mature.

I really do not see the point of bringing up the topic of a dead Mongolian woman which does not contribute anything to Malaysia. Or about talking about the rulers which are here to stay for another 100 years.

Better talk about the welfare of the rakyat and the economy, give ideas and action plans on how the election hopefuls can bring about investment in terms of human capital development rather than promote mass street protest.

Soon they’ll be giving prepared texts to all the candidates to read out.

C’mon, Malaysians are not so immature. Let them say what they want. And if the accusers can’t substantiate their allegations, take them to court.

My “fair” friend. In case you didn’t notice, we Malaysians have been awake since March 08. About Malaysians not being democratically mature, please speak for yourself alone. Amen.
