KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Oct 2008: Dewan Rakyat today rejected an emergency motion by M Kulasegaran (DAP-Ipoh Barat) to discuss the government decision declaring the Hindu Rights Action Front (Hindraf) an illegal organisation as there is no urgency.
In rejecting the motion, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said the matter could be raised and discussed at length during debate on the Supply Bill 2009.
“The motion can be hastened if there were no opportunities available during the Dewan Rakyat session,” he said.
Kulasegaran had asked Dewan Rakyat to adjourn and discuss the Hindraf issue claiming that the government ban on the unregistered group was unfair and inappropriate. — Bernama
