KUALA LUMPUR, 25 March 2009: The first sitting of the second session of the 12th Dewan Rakyat in Parliament, that began on 16 Feb, adjourned ‘sine die’ today.
The meeting that was to end on 19 March lasted 22 days after it was extended for three days beginning 23 March, to enable bills and other government business to be concluded.
The Dewan Rakyat passed nine bills including the Supplementary Supply Bill (2008) 2009 and the Supplementary Supply Bill (2009) 2009.
Seven other bills were the Witness Protection Bill 2008, Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2009, Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill 2008, Fees (National Agricultural Training Council) (Validation) Bill 2009.
Also passed were the Continental Shelf (Amendment) Bill 2009 and Private Higher Education Institutions (Amendment) Bill 2008.
The Human Rights Commission (Amendment) Bill 2009 was also passed today.
Meanwhile the National Services Training (Amendment) Bill 2008 that was scheduled for its second and third readings was brought forward for the next sitting. — Bernama
