KUALA LUMPUR, 16 Jan 2009: A total of 28,044 people have applied to become new voters while 7,195 electors have sought to change their polling stations between October and December last year.
Election Commission (EC) public relations officer Sabri Said said the additional electoral roll for the fourth quarter of last year would be displayed for verification of personal particulars and petition from 19 to 25 Jan.
They will be put up at state election offices, computerised post offices, government complexes and land and district offices, he said in a statement today.
“New applicants who find their names missing can fill up the B form and return them within seven days. They can also apply to change the polling stations,” he said.
Sabri said to remove the names of dead electors, family members must produce the dead certificates or burial permits of the deceased.
They could post or fax the documents or come in person to state election offices or the EC headquarters in Putrajaya, he added.
The EC can be reached at 03-88856500 or fax 03-88889117 or by surfing http://www.spr.gov.my for further information. — Bernama
