KUALA LUMPUR, 23 Dec 2008: Former Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Raja Ahmad Noordin Raja Shahbudin who died last night due to complications after suffering a mild stroke, was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery juts before noon today.
Raja Ahmad, 84, was pronounced dead at 10.46 pm at University Malaya Medical Centre Hospital after being admitted at 5.30 pm.
“He was admitted into the intensive care unit (ICU) and was put on life support for five hours before his heart completely stopped responding,” his son Norman told Bernama.
Raja Ahmad Noordin leaves behind wife Puan Sri Saliah Binti Abdul Wahab, 74, two children, and seven grandchildren.
He was the Director General of Health from 1975 till 1980 and thereafter Director of Regional Office of World Health Organisation (WHO) based in Manila, the Philippines, from 1980 till 1985. — Bernama
