JOHOR BARU, 30 Oct 2009: The Pasir Gudang MCA division has called for a boycott of party president Ong Tee Keat’s activities in the state.
Its head, Tan Cher Puk, who is also the state MCA treasurer, said that Ong, who is the Johor MCA chief, had betrayed the trust of the members.
He told a news conference after chairing the division’s special meeting here today that Ong should have resigned after last month’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) which did not support him as president.
“We are asking him to keep his word that he would go even if he loses by one vote. If he fails to do so, from now on the Pasir Gudang MCA division will boycott all his events,” he said, adding that the division did not want to associate itself with a leader who did not keep his promise.
The Pasir Gudang division also threw its support behind state MCA deputy chief and party vice-president Datuk Tan Kok Hong and the central committee members who are asking for a fresh EGM, he said. — Bernama
