KUALA LUMPUR, 27 April 2009: A sweeper was shocked when she found a homemade bomb and fireworks in a garbage bin at 10am near condominiums in Sri Petaling here today.
Brickfields district police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Talib said a bomb disposal team rushed to the scene to detonate the device measuring 16cm long and 7cm wide.
Also found were four pieces of ‘Thunder King’ firecrackers, ‘Happy Boom’ (104 pieces), ‘Pop-Pop’ (36 pieces), ‘Rubbing Bang’ (30 pieces), ‘Bumble Bee’ (60 pieces) and 42 sticks of sparklers.
“The bomb disposal team used a robot to detonate the bomb as it could have exploded due to heat. I consider the makers as experts but the motive for dumping it is being investigated,” Wan Abdul Bari told Bernama at his office here today.
Meanwhile, he said the remains of a man found dumped in a ravine along the Sprint Highway near Mont Kiara yesterday had yet to be identified. — Bernama
