GLOBAL Street Mission Kuala Lumpur (GOSM) is a non-profit non-governmental organisation that has been operating in Malaysia for the past 17 years. It reaches out to the poor, homeless and marginalised, helping them to rebuild their lives through rehabilitation and restoration. GOSM operates predominantly in the Klang Valley, providing meals, shelter, bathing, rest and counselling facilities for the needy. The group has also been active in neighbouring states.
The photos here are of the Street Outreach Feeding Programme at the GOSM centre on Jalan Raja Laut, as well as on Lebuh Ampang and near Jalan Chow Kit. Volunteer workers are seen preparing meals and serving food to the street people of Kuala Lumpur. GOSM provides meals every Saturday evening, with some 3,900 meals served a week. Ingredients and other costs are covered primarily by donations from tradespersons and the public.
Those interested in donating in cash or kind can contact GOSM (tel: 03-40420062).
