HOW does art get made? The finished product is all many of us see, but what goes on in private in an artist’s studio? What do they struggle with? What do their creative processes look like?

In January 2010, RogueArt exhibited artworks from a project titled WORK, which provided a glimpse into the creative worlds of 10 Malaysian artists. The artworks have been published in a book titled WORKING, along with portraits by Tara Sosrowardoyo of the artists at work.

WORKING was launched at Zinc Art Space on 2 Oct 2010.

“The publication  is a modest attempt to uncover each artist’s methodology, to try to make sense of what is often considered a wordless and emotional creative process,” states the RogueArt website. WORKING is priced at RM250 and is available at Zinc Art Space until 12 Oct 2010. For more information, e-mail  [email protected] or visit their website at www.rogueart.asia.

All pics of the artists are by Sosrowardoyo and are courtesy of him and RogueArt. Pictures of the WORKING launch are by Rechy Agus Rachim.
