KUALA LUMPUR, 24 Nov 2008: The human resources ministry’s job portal has become a hit with job seekers and employers, averaging 15,000 ‘hits’ daily since its revamp, about four months ago.
The portal, with its new domain, ww.jobsmalaysia.gov.my, has enhanced features which are user-friendly.
Previously, it was part of the ministry’s web page and was known as the Electronic Labour Exchange (ELX).
Labour Director-General Datuk Ismail Abdul Rahim told Bernama today that the system automatically matched a job seeker’s qualifications, skills, experience and interest to available job vacancies which have been advertised in the portal.
He said the jobs available were both in the public and private sectors, adding that the system was free and could be accessed by anyone, locally and internationally.
Ismail said the ministry was working with other government agencies to popularise and publicise the portal and make it accessible, particularly to rural people.
He said steps were also being taken to make the portal easier for the disabled, in line with the government’s efforts to push for a higher employment rate for this group of workers.
As a means to further popularise the portal, the labour department is currently holding a job carnival at the Putra World Trade Centre.
The carnival ends tomorrow. — Bernama
