KUALA LUMPUR, 25 May 2009: PAS vice president Datuk Husam Musa said today he will contest the deputy president’s post at the party congress next month.
He said the decision was made after considering views of all quarters including PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat.
It was also in line with the consultative council decision on 10 May that the party’s top two posts were open to contest.
With this, the PAS No 2 post would see a three-cornered contest between incumbent Nasharuddin Mat Isa, vice president Mohamad Sabu and Husam.
Meanwhile, PAS information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar has offered to contest one of the three vice presidents post after the incumbents declined to defend their posts. — Bernama
