SUNGAI PETANI, 7 April 2009: The independent candidate who uses the aeroplane symbol, T Chandrarajan, cast his vote at 9.30am today to the sound of a roaring jet engine blasting from a luxury Jaguar car.
Chandrarajan was accompanied by his wife M Suguna Devi at Sekolah Menengah Teknik Sungai Petani 2.
He is one of the 13 independent candidates eligible to vote in this state seat.
Chandrarajan said he was ready to face whatever outcome from today’s by-election which has a record 15 candidates contesting, including the Barisan Nasional’s Datuk S Ganesan and Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s S Manikumar.
“I will continue my struggle even in defeat. In sports it’s the same: only the best will win,” he told reporters after voting here today.
He said he received positive comments including praise for his manifesto of change for Bukit Selambau residents.
Chandrarajan was satisfied with the smooth voting process today after visiting several voting centres in the morning.
“I saw a low turnout in the morning and hope more will come out a bit later,” he said. — Bernama
