KOTA BARU, 13 July 2009: Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the Influenza A(H1N1) outbreak in the country was under control although the number of positive cases has reached more than 700.
Most of the positive cases reported in the country are imported cases while a number of them are locally transmitted cases.
Liow noted that most of the cases have been treated and that the recovery rate was very high.
“The overall situation is well under control and we hope it won’t continue to spread,” said Liow after opening a convention for Visitors and Advisory Boards for Kelantan hospitals here today.
He added that six confirmed cases were registered in Kelantan and 17 in Terengganu but advised the public not to worry or panic.
Apart from being concerned with A(H1N1), people must also be aware of diseases or sickness that are not contagious like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases, he said. — Bernama
