ALOR SETAR, 17 Jan 2009: Datuk Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah heads the list of recipients of state awards in conjunction with the 81st birthday of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, tomorrow.
Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, the youngest daughter of Tuanku Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, is bestowed with the Orang Besar Empat award which carries the title “Tunku Panglima Besar”.
Next in the list is the sole recipient of the Bintang Keberanian Kedah (BKK), Corporal Mohd Zamri Md Scoot from the sixth battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment, Bukit Pinang Camp, Kepala Batas near here.
There are five recipients for the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah (DGMK) which carries the title “Datuk Wira”.
They are Universiti Utara Malaysia vice-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi, deputy navy chief Vice-Admiral Datuk Mohammed Noordin Ali, army field commander Lt-Gen Datuk Raja Mohamad Affandi Raja Mohammed Noor, Management & Science University president Prof Datuk Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, and Lt-Gen (R) Datuk Masood Zainal Abidin.
Fourth division commander Maj-Gen Datuk Zulkiple Kassim is the sole recipient of Datuk Paduka Mahkota Kedah which carries the title “Datuk Paduka”.
Thirty-eight people are awarded the Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title “Datuk”.
They are Pokok Sena Member of Parliament Mahfuz Omar; Kedah Industrial and Investment, Science and Innovation, Biotechnology and Entrepreneurial Development Committee chair Amiruddin Hamzah, Kedah state assembly speaker Dr Abd Isa Ismail, Kubang Pasu district officer Che Barni Mohd Noor.
Other recipients include Bukit Pinang assemblyperson Md Rohsidi Osman, Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul, Land and Mine deputy director-general Datuk Azemi Kasim, Disease Control (Vector-Borne Diseases) Division deputy director Dr Azmi Hashim, Drainage and Irrigation Department deputy director-general K John Abraham.
Defence Ministry’s Human Resources Division secretary Abdullah Kassim, federal audit director Mustafa Saman, Mara deputy director-general Othman Ahmad, Mida deputy director-general II Wahab Hamid, lecturer Tunku Mohani Tunku Mohtar.
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia College of Science and Technology dean Prof Dr Azhari Md Salleh, commander of naval region 3 First Admiral Abdul Ghani Othman, Federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department deputy director SAC I Ismail Yatim.
Federal Criminal Investigation Department deputy director SAC I Shatar Abdul Jalil, Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital Respiratory Medicine Department head Dr George Kutty Simon, Kedah Medical Centre health director and consultant physician Dr Ismail Yaacob, Kedah Fatwa Committee member Syeikh Fadzil Awang, Agriculture Drainage and Irrigation Division director Mohd Azhari Ghazali, Minat Johan Sdn Bhd managing director Chong Chim Tiong, Kumpulan Sakata Sdn Bhd executive vice-chairman Mohamad Alayuddin Che Hassan.
The rest of the DSDK recipients are businesswoman Rokiah Hashim, Abdul Hamid Abdul Rahman, Mat Nanyan Saad, Shaarani Hasan, Harun Hashim, Shafri Mohamad, Lt-Col (R) Harith Othman, Mohammad Faizal Zainol, F’ng Ah Seng, Kok Eue Khon, Brig-Gen (R) Abd. Hamid Md Zain, Brig-Gen Adnan Abu Bakar, Brig-Gen Mohd Dalib Basir, Abdul Latif Mohd Som.
First Solar Malaysia Sdn Bhd president Heiner J. Eichermueller is conferred the honorary Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah which carries the title “Datuk”.
Tunku Shazuddin Tunku Sallehuddin and Syed Nasir Syed Abdullah awarded the Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah while two others, Senator Zamri Yusuf and Kedah deputy speaker Abd Ghani Ahmad, awarded the Setia Mahkota Kedah award.
Eleven people awarded the Justice of the Peace.
The investiture ceremony will be held at the Anak Bukit Palace here tomorrow while the full honours list will be issued on 21 Jan. — Bernama
