IPOH, 11 Jan 2009: The Ipoh Barat MIC treasurer, N Sitamparam, 64, was hacked to death by several men during a robbery in his house in Jalan Wayang, Buntung, here early this morning.
Ipoh police district chief, ACP Azisman Alias, said Sitamparam was found dead by police after they received a call from neighbours.
“The incident happened at 2am when he was attacked and hacked by several men with machetes,” he said at a news conference here today.
Police investigation found Sitamparam had injuries to his head, hands and body and his body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem, he said.
Azisman said his 60-year old wife had her hands tied and was not hurt.
He said Sitamparam’s Proton Waja, a handphone, some cash and jewellery were stolen.
Azisman said the victim was attacked by between three and five men and police were still investigating the motive for the incident and no arrests had been made.
Police have classified the case as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
