PUTRAJAYA, 28 July 2009: The residents of Kampung Buah Pala in Bukit Gelugor, Penang have appealed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to intervene in their village land ownership issue.
Their appeal, in a memorandum, was handed to the Prime Minister’s Offfice today through Najib’s Special Officer Datuk Nasir Safar.
Kampung Buah Pala village head M Sugumaran said the prime minister should intervene in the matter as soon as possible to save their homes from being demolished. He argued that the land rightfully belonged to the villagers.
The controversy over the ownership of the 2.6ha village land came about when the state government sold the land to Koperasi Pegawai Kerajaan Pulau Pinang Bhd.
The cooperative then appointed developer Nusmetro Ventures (P) Sdn Bhd to develop the land and obtained a court order for the villagers to vacate the land before 3 Aug 2009. —Bernama

The people of Kg Buah Pala are smart. Najib will show to the people who has the power this time. Of course, they have to pay a price for this. Wait and see — the savior is here. Just like the other by-election campaign promise: Vote for me if you want a bridge….this time…..let me take over Penang if you want the house…..

Instead of rehashing Vision 2020, which some of us thought would be publicised right up to 2020 (at the time), here’s a great piece of public relations.
Here, we do not have any Westerners who wish to keep these people in their present state for observational purposes.
Samy has shown us the money. Now show us the land.
