KUALA LUMPUR, 19 March 2009:The 216th meeting of the Conference of Rulers today discussed, among other things, issues related to “fatwa” (edicts), the position of Islamic colleges and the appointment of judges of the Federal Court and Court of Appeal.
Discussions on the second day today of the two-day meeting also touched on matters related to the country’s defence, security and economy, the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Engku Tan Sri Ibrahim Engku Ngah, said in a statement.

The meeting was chaired by the Sultan of Kelantan, Tuanku Ismail Petra.
All the sultans and Yang Dipertuas Negeri, except for the rulers of Terengganu and Johor, attended the meeting.
The Sultan of Terengganu was represented by the president of the Terengganu Regency Advisory Council, Tengku Sri Panglima Raja Tengku Baderulzaman Sultan Mahmud, while the Sultan of Johor was represented by the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ibrahim Ismail Sultan Iskandar. — Bernama
