KUALA LUMPUR, 17 March 2009: The Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has to wait for the Umno Disciplinary Board’s report regarding any money politics allegations involving leaders and members of the party before it can any take further action.
MACC Investigation Director Datuk Syukri Abdul told Bernama this here today.
“We need basic information and reports from the party. We cannot press charges if no reports have been made,” he said.
The Umno Disciplinary Board today found Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam who is Umno vice president guilty under item 10.1 of the party’s ethics for graft and money politics offence committed by an agent.
The board’s chair, Tan Sri Tengku Ahmad Rithauddeen Tengku Ismail, also revealed that 14 other Umno members including Youth vice chief Khairy Jamaluddin had been found in breach of the party’s constitution and ethics. — Bernama
