KLANG, 27 May 2009: Kota Alam Shah assemblyperson M Manoharan said today that he is not interested to lobby for any post in the Selangor executive council (exco) lineup as he wants to concentrate on looking after his constituency.
“I am not vying for an offer to be included in the state exco lineup. I advise people to stop making unnecessary demands to the Selangor Menteri Besar (Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim) to appoint me as an exco member.
“Selangor executive councillor Dr Xavier Jayakumar is already doing a good job and I will assist him in whatever way I can to uplift the well-being of the Indian [Malaysian] community,” Manoharan told reporters after attending a dialogue session with Jalan Tengku Kelana Indian business traders near here.
Xavier, who is also Sri Andalas assemblyperson from Parti Keadilan Rakyat, is the sole Indian Malaysian exco member in Selangor.
Meanwhile, Manoharan, who is from the DAP, appealed to the Selangor government to emulate the Penang government and allocate at least two deputy menteri besar posts for non-Malay Malaysians. — Bernama
