KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Jan 2009: All MCA ministers and deputy ministers are to submit a work plan for their respective portfolio to the party’s highest governing body, a move to inculcate accountability among its leaders.
Party president Datuk Sri Ong Tee Keat said the instruction which had been endorsed by the Presidential Council would be carried out immediately.
“I’ve decided and instructed that all the four MCA ministers must submit the work plan for their respective ministries to the MCA Presidential Council and Central Committee.
“All the MCA deputy ministers are also required to do likewise, particularly concerning their work scope,” he told a news conference after chairing his inaugural Presidential Council meeting at Wisma MCA here today.
The MCA has four full ministers and six deputy ministers.
On the Kuala Terengganu by-election, Ong said MCA party workers would work closely with the Barisan Nasional (BN) election machinery to ensure that BN retained the seat, although the Chinese constituents only constituted about 11% of the voters in the constituency.
“I see this as a challenge that all of us in BN must overcome as a team. The MCA will continue to campaign all out in the spirit of comradeship in the by-election,” he said. — Bernama
