KUALA LUMPUR, 21 Oct 2008: MCA Youth is to send a memorandum to the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur for an explanation on why the name of Jalan Alor and that of several other roads in the city have been changed.
Its head Dr Wee Ka Siong said the people living the areas and petty businessmen were unhappy with the name changes, especially Jalan Alor which is a tourist attraction for its food outlets.
“I do not see any justification for this action or how changing the names can help promote tourism,” he told reporters at Parliament’s lobby here today.
City Hall recently changed Jalan Alor’s name to Jalan Kejora but the old name still appears in smaller print on signages. — Bernama
