KUALA LUMPUR, 13 May 2009: The MIC will hold its 63rd delegates conference on 12 and 13 Sept.
MIC president Datuk Seri S Samy Vellu said today that 1,600 delegates nationwide would attend the conference which would see the election of the deputy president, three vice-presidents and 23 central committee members.
Samy Vellu was returned unopposed as MIC president after his challenger, former party vice-president Datuk M Muthupalaniappan, failed to garner enough nominations when nominations closed on 22 March.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was scheduled to open the conference.
Thirteen motions would be tabled, he told reporters after presenting Maju Institute of Educational Development (MIED) loans totalling RM1.2 million to 143 students here. — Bernama
