KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Feb 2009: The newly-elected Kuala Terengganu Member of Parliament Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut took his oath of office today before Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia.
Mohd Abdul Wahid, 52, from PAS, won the seat in a by-election held on 17 Jan with a 2,631 vote majority.
He secured 32,883 votes to win the seat against Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, who obtained 30,252 votes.
The by-election was held following the death of Deputy Education Minister Datuk Razali Ismail on 28 Nov last year.
Meanwhile, Pandikar Amin conveyed his condolence to the family of Bukit Gantang Member of Parliament Roslan Shaharum and asked members to observe a minute of silence.
Roslan died on 9 Feb due to a heart attack.
The Election Commission has fixed 7 April for polling day in Bukit Gantang. — Bernama
