PENANG, 4 May 2009: Former Penang PAS Youth chief Mohd Hafiz Mohd Nordin today denied that he had quit the post as reported, but had to let go the post because of the age factor.
He said he did not at all utter the word “resign” in his speech at the Penang PAS Youth annual meeting in Balik Pulau yesterday.
Instead, he said, he let go the post as he had reached 40, which did not qualify him to hold it anymore, but this fact was not reported by the newspaper concerned.
“There could have been confusion or misunderstanding as except for one or two, most of the media reporters were not present to cover the meeting yesterday,” he added.
Penang PAS commissioner Mohd Salleh Man, when contacted by Bernama, said he was still waiting for the official report from the Youth wing but from the information received, Mohd Hafiz did not resign as state PAS Youth head but had to let go the post because of the age factor.
The report which appeared in an English language newspaper also said that Mohd Hafiz was replaced by his deputy Yusni Mat Tiah and did not give the reason for his “resignation”.
Mohd Hafiz had been among the most vocal state leaders who wanted PAS to contest in the coming Penanti state seat by-election. — Bernama
