KUALA LUMPUR, 10 March 2009: The Dewan Rakyat has rejected a motion by the DAP to debate the denial of entry to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) assemblypersons into the Perak Darul Ridzuan complex to conduct an emergency state assembly sitting.
The motion was filed by Nga Kor Ming (DAP-Taiping) on 4 March, but was rejected in chamber by Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia today.
Pandikar Amin said the motion was rejected under Standing Order 18 (1), as matters related to the Perak state assembly were now before the court.
In a statement issued today, Nga, a former state executive councillor, said the conflict in Perak had tarnished the doctrine on the separation of powers.
On 3 March, representatives from the PR held an emergency assembly sitting under a tree in a car park next to the state secretariat building when they were refused entry into the complex. — Bernama
