MIRI, 13 Feb 2009: Datuk Seri Najib Razak today visited the areas here which were affected by floods and landslides.
Shortly after arrival here, the Deputy Prime Minister was flown by a helicopter to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Suai, about 100km from here, to present aid to flood victims in the Niah sub-district.
He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan and Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Peter Chin.
Najib made an aerial survey of the flood-stricken areas in the Baram district.
A total of 45,322 people were affected by the floods since 29 Jan with 99 landslide victims were still sheltered at the Malaysian Red Crescent Society building.
Najib is on a three-day visit to Sarawak which ends today. — Bernama
