PASIR MAS, 16 Jan 2009: A trainee who slipped into a drain during floods while undergoing the National Service (NS) training in Selama, Perak on 1 Jan is now in critical condition.
Mohd Alhasyhiemi Mohd Hussin, 18, who was almost drowned in the incident was transferred from the Lati Hospital, Pasir Mas to the Raja Perempuan Zainab Dua Hospital, Kota Baru three days ago.
“He had breathing difficulty yesterday and had become unconscious. He is in the intensive care unit and in critical condition.
“The doctor said my son had viral lung infection as he drank a lot of water in the incident.
“He slipped into a drain while taking goods to a higher ground when the training camp was inundated,” said Mohd Hussin.
He said Mohd Alhasyhiemi was saved by an instructor and admitted to the hospital but the camp commandant did not inform him about it.
Mohd Hussin lodged a report about the incident at the Kota Baharu police station this morning.
Meanwhile, Kota Baru police chief ACP Zahruddin Abdullah said he had not received the report.
“However, if there was any, it will be sent to the Selama police station for investigation,” he said. — Bernama
