KUALA TERENGGANU, 6 Jan 2009: PAS candidate Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut is confident of winning the 17 Jan Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election, saying he has the support including from among the Chinese voters.
“Based on my record as a five-term Wakaf Mempelam assemblyperson, I’m confident of obtaining a strong support including from the Chinese voters.
“We won the three state seats under the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary area in the last election and this will certainly give me an added advantage,” he told reporters at the nomination centre here.
Meanwhile, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said, Mohd Abdul Wahid was the most suitable candidate for the party.
“I’m confident that we can win the seat,” he said.
The by-election, held following the death of incumbent member of parliament Datuk Razali Ismail, is seeing a three-cornered fight involving Mohd Abdul Wahid, Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh and independent candidate Azharudin Mamat @ Adam. — Bernama
