Penang PKR chief welcomes Gerakan’s Huan

June 4, 2009

PENANG, 3 June 2009: Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) would be happy to welcome Gerakan vice-president Huan Cheng Guan to join PKR if the latter decides to do so, said state PKR chief Datuk Zahrain Mohamed Hashim.

Zahrain said Huan had earlier voiced his intention to cross over to PKR but nothing had been finalised yet.

“We are more than happy to welcome a leader like Huan if he is keen to join the PKR as he is expected to bring along about 1,000 of his supporters,” he told reporters after the swearing-in of Mansor Othman as the Deputy Chief Minister 1 here today.

He said Huan did not rule out the possibility of defecting and joining the opposition following their meeting recently.

However, in an immediate response, Huan said he had no plans to cross over to PKR currently even though there seemed to be a rift in the state Gerakan.

“I thank Zahrain for his offer but I have not decided to cross over yet,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.

He said he would leave his fate in the party to the Gerakan central committee.

“I will wait and see how Gerakan will handle my issue as I have not seen the party’s show-cause letter as I am still in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

He said he would look at the letter, which was sent to his house in Penang, when he returned in the next few days and decide whether to reply or otherwise.

Last month, Huan expressed his dissatisfaction at the top party leadership and his intention to resign from the party which led to the show-cause letter being issued by the party’s central committee. — Bernama

Hey PKR, why bother to welcome someone who is having problem with his party? Don’t simply accept any Tom, Dick and Harry into PKR. No wonder PKR is the pain in the ass for PR. Look into your own back yard. MPSP councillors boycotting swearing-in of MPSP President and also condemning and belittling our beloved CM. DSAI, you can’t even control your party – how are you going to run the country? You only have your agenda at heart, not the rakyat. You are very arrogant and boastful. Come on, walk the talk otherwise PKR will suffer in the 13GE.
